Faith & ScienceSix talks with Fr Philip Miller

THURSDAYS at 6pm from 14 October

As we all know, we live in a society in which materialism and atheism are somewhat militant — take for example the London-bus advert a few years back, suggesting “There is probably no God — Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.”  And we are constantly surrounded by the promotion of the myth that ‘science has explained everything.’

Well, we know that this isn’t the case, but we need to present our arguments for this.  We have to see how our faith sheds light on the existence of the cosmos, and especially on the nature of mankind.

Above all, we must appreciate fully that the human person is not just a material being, like the rest of visible creation, but is also a spiritual being: we have an immortal soul which has not evolved from lower life-forms, even though our bodies have and are related in our DNA, therefore, to all the species lower down the tree of life.
