Fr. Elijah Owens is a Benedictine monk from the American abbey of Subiaco located in the state of Arkansas. He was raised as a member of the Southern Baptist ecclesial community. During his college years he came into full communion with the Catholic Church and began to explore his vocational calling. After serving assignments for his country involving oversea’s work, he decided to begin studies for the diocesan priesthood. He served as a diocesan priest in various assignments at parishes, vocation and seminary formation, liturgy, evangelization, and campus ministries. He then professed his vows as a Benedictine monk on 11 September 14, 2011. He was given a five-year assignment at the Pontifical Monastic Institute in Rome where he serves as a visiting professor, while also completing his doctorate in Sacred Liturgy. He will be spending the year researching at the British Library the early monastic liturgies of the “Celtic” regions.
