Lejeune Clinic @ Newman House
Saturdays – Once a month
Monthly drop-in play session for young Downs Syndrome children and their families
We are a charity called the Lejeune Clinic (soon to be renamed as we are no longer running clinics), which supports families of children with Downs Syndrome. Historically this has been through monthly clinics with occupational therapy and medical one on one advice sessions at St John and St Elizabeth’s hospital in St John’s Wood. However, because we are a small outfit, new requirements of the Care Quality Commission in relation to providing the service have meant that we need to diversify and restyle our offering to these families. Our intended first step is to provide a monthly drop-in play session for young Downs Syndrome children and their families and Fr Stephen has kindly allowed us to run this at Newman House. We have not entirely settled on the format of the sessions, but our general intention is to provide them monthly on Saturday mornings, combining them with either a talk or some other useful input for the parents.
If you are interested in becoming a VOLUNTEER, see the Social Outreach Chaplain, Sr. Carolyn Morrison who holds a volunteering drop-in service at Newman House on Tuesdays. If you would like to arrange an alternative appointment for a chat and application forms either e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or talk to me at the after the 10:30am Mass on Sundays at Newman House.
