Catholic Students from London and Beyond
Jacinta writes about the CathSoc Formation Day that took place yesterday.
This Saturday Newman House hosted its annual training day for present and upcoming cathsoc committee members, with nearly 40 university students from chaplaincies all over London. It was really nice to see so many faces! The day had an excellent programme of quick and inspiring talks packed with information on evangelization, social outreach, and witnessing to our faith in the university environment. The celebration of Mass followed by lunch after gave us the chance to pray and relax together. We had a team building (or potentially team destroying) exercise building spaghetti towers (see the action photo below), with some genius-inspired 2cm tall structures. We were reminded of the importance of an interior life, and of building real friendships with each other and any newcomers. Practically speaking, the importance of communication, of organizing yourself before term starts and of prioritizing the most important events was highlighted with a quick brainstorming session giving us lots of new ideas. (My favorites was the title ‘rent a nun’ for a vocations talk.) Thanks to everyone that came along and particular thanks to those who organized and spoke. See you next year!
